Hall of Claims: Top 10

So Farmers Insurance is sort of known for covering bizarre situations. We put said situations in "The Hall of Claims". I have shared a lot of incidents on my social media accounts but now I will rank the top 10 claims Farmers has ever covered.

10) Hot Dog
A Farmer's customer left their left-over pizza sitting on the stove when only the dog was home. The pizza-loving pup jumped up and grabbed the slice. In the process, the dog turned the stove on, setting the house on fire. I know what you're wondering and no the dog did not get hurt but the house did.

9) Swan Dive
Imagine laying out by your pool, taking in the sun when suddenly a car crashed through your fence and lands in your pool. This is what happened to a Farmers customer in 2012.

8) Swing Set Standoff
A Farmers customer parked his RV in his backyard next to a swing set.  On July 1st, 2015, a moose decided the swing set looked like fun and managed to get his antlers tangled. In an effort to untangle himself, the moose damaged both the swing set and the motor home.

7) Billy Goat Ruffians
After getting it polished, a Farmers customer had their new shiny car attacked by a herd of goats because they saw their reflections in the glass.

6) Coupe Soup
A romantic trip to the beach went awry as a couple was watching the sunset from their car when suddenly a rouge wave crashed over the berm, filling the car with seawater.


5) Cactus Calamity
It's one thing for an unwanted guest to crash on the couch. It's another to have a cactus crash onto your house. That's what happened when a gust of wind toppled a 40-foot saguaro cactus onto a customer's roof.

4) Smash and Grub
Imagine opening your garage door and seeing a 500 pound black bear eating your frozen steaks out of the freezer. This is what happened to a Farmers customer in 2014.

3) Chauffer Terrier
This Farmers customer will never leave their dog alone in the car again. When the car owner left to run a quick errand, the dog (who wasn't a very good driver) put the car in drive and got into a little fender bender. If a dog driving crashed into your car, how would you react?
 

2) UFH2O
This Farmers customer will never attempt to fix their water heater again. After his "repairs" the water heater shot up like a rocket from the basement going through the roof and landing on their neighbors car. How do you explain that to your neighbor?

1) Romantic Rodent
A Farmers customer took off their wedding ring to play a round of golf and placed it in his cart. When he wasn't looking, a gopher came and swopped up the ring. He probably needed it to propose to his gopher girlfriend.

Dangers of Texting and Driving

1 out of 4 car accidents are caused by texting and driving   Before the smartphone, drunk driving accidents were the leading cause of death among teenagers and young adults. In recent years, an average of 2,700 teenagers were killed as a result of drunk driving. What is more scary is that in recent years, over 3,000 teenagers and young adults die each year from distracted driving. That is roughly eight people every day.        It isn’t just teenagers who are the ones texting. According to a survey conducted by AT&T, 49% of American adult drivers admitted they text and drive and 90% of those admit it’s dangerous. So why do we do it?
